Before you begin RPing (I hope that is very soon) please read these few rules and remember them!!
-No one liners. We've all done it, and we all know you can't work well with a one liner. Don't put 'em! If you can't think of anything to say, don't put anything! And try descriptive words. Describe what your character is doing, their surrounding. It doesn't have to only be them talking. How boring is that?
-When you create an OC, please make sure it isn't a Mary Sue or Gary Sue. Those are so boring... make it original, but believable. If you're OC is an exchange student, give me a really good reason that is legible. Not "they didn't like their old school." That won't cut it. Also, half-breeds are cool, but I'm setting the limit for half-breeds at Hogwarts to 3. That means half-Vampire, Werewolf, and the like. Full Vampires and Werewolves will also have a limit of 3. I understand that it's cool to be a creature of the night and whatnot, but there can't be too many. Understand me?
-Animagi... no 1st-3rd years may be Animagi. It's just not enough time to become one. I'm sorry. But once your character enters fourth year, they can become a fourth year. BUT... in the first three years, you must make it known by someone that you were training to become and animagi. You don't become one overnight, ya know.
-Please read over your posts before submitting them. Make sure your grammar is good and it all makes sense. You are lucky, proboards has a spell check. USE IT! I can understand slip ups, but not a whole bunch. Make sure you are literate and know your grammar before posting. Thanks a bunch.
-Keep up to date with everything! Plot will be made shortly and you must follow it!! Marauders are in their first year, and we can come up with our own plot! Just make sure you keep up with it...
-No out of character RPing... if you have problems in real life, don't associate it into your character's actions. If I see a character doing something that is unjust, I shall take action immediately. You will be banned for X days.
-When RPing... please DO NOT put something along the lines of...
Example: *Syrian walks into the room* Hey guys!
*action* and -action- are not permitted. Actually write, guys!
Example: Syrian, fiery red waves cascading down her back, strode into the common room, a large smile on her face. "Hey guys!" Her voice was cheerful and bright.
-When your character is thinking, put their thoughts in italics. Instead of...
"Dang, that was weird," thought Taylor.
Put...
Dang, that was weird, thought Taylor.
Italics can be used for thought and a stressed word.
-When stressing a word, use italics, bold, or both. Don't caps. Italics and bold look better and neater.
-I want you to be descriptive in your writing, but not too descriptive. If you write a 1 1/2 pages on just eating breakfast, you're running on about nothing!
-Don't continually repeat yourself. Find synonyms, and don't constantly say what your character looks like, unless it is relevant and/or important to what's going on.
-If you're going to create an OC, please use the following layout for your profile:
Name: (Name??)
Age: (How old are you? If you're a student, obviously at least 11 and at most 17.)
Gender: (You can't be undisclosed, sorry.)
House: (What house is your person in? Go to the Great Hall to get sorted.)
Wand: (Tell you more about this, but decide what kind of wand they have.)
Appearance: (Hair, eyes, body type, and the like. Give me a good idea of what your person looks like!)
Personality: (Make it better than, "kind, bossy, thoughtful". No. That won't cut it.)
Keyword: (for keyword, you shall put "flobberworm")
Likes: (What are some things they like?)
Dislikes: (What don't they like?)
Good Traits: (What's good about the person? Are they always ready to help?)
Bad Traits: (Could be habits, things they do, like get angry quickly, or something like that)
If you don't have the exact format for your profile, and don't have the keyword, especially, I will not allow the OC to be played.
-Okay... Wands... Here are what the cores can be:
Dragon Heartstring
Unicorn Hair
Phoenix Feather
Got an interesting core that you'd like to have? PM me and I'll either okay it... or not. Tough luck if I don't. The list can and more than likely will be updated.
Woods... Any wood under the sun. Give you freedom there. =3 Just... no exotic or made up tree... Choose one that is, well, real. Thank you.
Now length. No shorter than 6" and no longer than 16". Sound good? If you have an issue with this rule, PM me, please. Quickest way for me to respond.
-Number of characters you can RP at any given time is 5. First one can be an OC, but the second and third absolutely must be a canon character. I don't think anyone can keep up with more than 5 characters, and I wouldn't recommend even that many. But if you think you can handle it...
-No god mode here!! You are not a god, so don't act like it! Do not, I repeat, do not take over someone else's character while they are gone, unless they tell me specifically that they are leaving and have given you permission to RP their person. I wouldn't recommend you allowing someone to RP your character that you don't know very well, someone you trust, preferably. But it is up to you. Thank you once again.
-You must take classes, I'm afraid... part of going to school. Which also means teachers are responsible for teaching... What they teach you, I have no control over. They could give you free time all the time for all I care. Just as long as you go to class. House points will be recorded... Here are a couple of things to know about the House Points.
Go to class: +10 points
Unexcused absence: -10 points
Break small rule (doesn't really matter): -5 points
Break medium rule (minor, not too important): -10 points
Break important rule (biggy!): -20 points
Sign-up for Quidditch, or something: +20 points
Teachers can award points to students, when they feel necessary. However, it is up to the student who received the points to add them to the House Points. Just post how many points you've earned, at the end of your time here, and it shall be changed accordingly. Teachers, if you award a student points, and don't tell them, keeping it as a surprise or something, you are responsible for posting the number of points in the appropriate thread. Thank you and I hope you'll keep up with it all!
I'll leave it at that for now. Beware! I shall add more in the future... I can just feel it. But you must come here to find out what they are, I won't advertise it that I've added rules.
